The City of Suwanee's property tax rate will likely remain unchanged following the first public hearing on the matter on Aug. 11.

The city has had a millage rate of 4.93 mills for the past 10 years, which would remain unchanged under the proposal. One mill is defined as $1 per $1000 of assessed value.

According to a report from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, City Manager Marty Allen said the amount of property taxes paid depends on whether the property owner's assessment has changed.

The city will hold two more public hearings on the proposal. Both hearings take place at Suwanee City Hall on Tuesday, Aug. 23, one at noon and the other at 6:30 p.m.

More information about the proposed millage rate can be found here.
