Gas prices in Georgia have continued their downward trend, according to the weekly fuel price report from AAA.

The agency said Monday that the average price for a gallon of regular gasoline had dropped eight cents compared to a week prior. The statewide average was $3.43 per gallon.

This week's average was 53 cents less than a month ago, and 46 cents more than this time last year.

It now costs about $51.43 to fill a 15-gallon tank of regular gasoline.

“Although Georgia pump price average has dropped from the beginning of summer, drivers continue to worry that prices could rise again in the next coming weeks,” Montrae Waiters, AAA spokeswoman said in the fuel price report. “Sliding oil prices, low demand, and the uncertainty in Ukraine continue to influence lower pump prices.”

Towns, Rabun and Franklin counties have the most expensive prices for a gallon of gas in Northeast Georgia. Towns County in particular has the most expensive average in the region at $3.59 a gallon.

Dawson County had the cheapest gas in the region, at $3.18 per gallon.
