A Cleveland missing man was found dead in a wrecked vehicle in White County Friday morning.

Jeffrey Robert McKenna, 50 of Cleveland, was reported missing on Tuesday, Aug. 16, after last being seen on Sunday, Aug, 14, the Georgia State Patrol reports.

Cleveland police and other local authorities had searched the Cleveland area and other known locations for four days using a ground search, tracking dogs, and aviation units.

Friday morning, troopers were called to Ga. 75 (Helen Highway) north of Cleveland to investigate a fatal traffic crash, according to GSP.  The investigation revealed that a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling north on Helen Highway, traveled off of the east shoulder, and struck a dirt embankment.  The Silverado vaulted over a driveway and landed in a ditch, overturning, coming to a final rest on its roof.

In a statement Friday night, Cleveland Police Chief Jeff Shoemaker said, "The members of Cleveland Police Department are saddened by the outcome; our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Mr. McKenna.
