An off-duty domestic violence incident in Stephens County has led to the firing of a Habersham County deputy sheriff.
Ryan Kelley’s employment was terminated following an internal investigation by the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office, said Col. Murray Kogod, chief deputy.
Stephens County investigators launched an investigation after the victim alleged physical contact by Kelley.
Kogod conducted a correlating internal investigation.
Later that day, Kogod learned a warrant for simple battery was being taken for Kelley in Stephens County.
Kelley’s employment with the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office was terminated for violation of oath of office and sheriff’s office policy and procedure, Kogod said.
