WALNUT GROVE, Ga. — Adriana Martinez belted two home runs and drove in six to lead Buford to a thrilling 7-4, come-from-behind win over Walnut Grove on the road on Monday.
The big blow came in the top of the seventh with one out and the Lady Wolves (4-0) trailing 4-3. Addie Rackley singled to start the rally, and after Isabel Rettiger's sacrifice bunt, Madison Pickens walked, and then Mackenzie Pickens singled to load the bases. Martinez followed with a grand slam to give Buford the lead.
The Lady Wolves' big inning came after Walnut Grove (3-2) plated three runs to grab the lead.
Buford took a quick 2-0 lead in the first on a two-run blast from Martinez and pushed the lead to 3-0 with a run in the third. The Lady Warriors cut the lead to 3-1 with a run in the fourth.
Olivia Duncan got the win going the distance. The senior lefty allowed four runs on five hits, walking none and fanning 11.
Malorie Watson took the loss for Walnut Grove surrendering seven runs on nine hits while striking out three.
Martinez and Mackenzie Pickens each had two hits on the day for Buford.
Watson had two hits to lead Walnut Grove at the plate.
Buford is off until taking on Cambridge and Woodland on Saturday.

Lacie James tossed a no-hitter to lead the Lady War Eagles to a big road win on Monday.
Jaden Lee had three hits and drove in four runs to pace the Chestatee offense, including a triple and a double.
Chestatee scored 8 runs in the first and eight more in the fourth to invoke the mercy rule.
James struck out seven in the win.
