JEFFERSON — Jefferson improved to 4-0 on the early season with a thrilling 10-9 win over Oconee County on Tuesday.
The Lady Dragons scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh, highlighted by an RBI double from Taylor Spivey driving in Audrey Burton, who had set up the winning hit with a two-run single two batters earlier.
Jefferson trailed 3-0 early but rallied to tie the game on a RBI double from Maleia Truelove in the bottom of the third. The Lady Dragons took their first lead in the fourth on a RBI sacrifice fly from Spivey.
The Lady Warriors, however, tied the game in the fifth and took an 8-4 lead with four runs in the sixth.
The Lady Dragons pulled within 8-6 in the bottom of the sixth before Oconee County pushed the lead to 9-6 with a run in the top of the seventh.
Spivey had a big game collecting two hits and three RBI and pitched the final 1 1/3 to get the win. Burton had four hits, three RBI, and scored three runs.
Jefferson next will play host to Flowery Branch on Thursday.
