ATLANTA — The Atlanta Braves acquired RHP Raisel Iglesias from the Los Angeles Angels in exchange for RHP Jesse Chavez and LHP Tucker Davidson on Tuesday.

Iglesias, 32, has 16 saves and a 4.04 ERA (16 ER/35.2 IP) in 39 games for the Angels this season. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound native of Isla de la Juven, Cuba, has struck out 48 and walked nine.

Dating to June 7, Iglesias owns a 3.12 ERA (6 ER/17.1 IP) in his last 18 outings. His 16 saves this season rank ninth in the American League.

Last season, the right-hander was a runner-up for the Mariano Rivera American League Reliever of the Year Award and finished 11th in voting for the American League Cy Young Award. He led his league in games finished (59) and amassed 34 saves, ranking second in the A.L.

Iglesias made his major league debut in 2015 with Cincinnati, pitching six seasons with the club, before signing a four-year contract with the Angels last offseason. He ranks eighth among all active relievers with 156 saves, while his 3.13 career ERA ranks 16th among active relievers with as many appearances as him (378).

Chavez, 38, was 1-1 with a 2.11 ERA (9 ER/38.1 IP) in 31 games with the Braves this season. He began the year with the Chicago Cubs and appeared in three games.
Davidson, 26, went 1-2 with a 6.46 ERA (11 ER/15.1 IP) in four games (three starts) for Atlanta this year, also posting a 4.59 ERA (41 ER/80.1 IP) across 15 games for Triple-A Gwinnett.
