Gwinnett County Police arrest woman for stealing puppy and attempting to steal another

The Gwinnett County Police Department arrested a woman who is accused of stealing one puppy and attempting to steal another.

 

Renae Tolbert met separately with two victims on July 26 in the 3300 block of Centerville Highway in Snellville. 

 

Tolbert and the first victim had corresponded online about the price of a French Bulldog puppy. When Tolbert and the victim met in the local business parking lot, Tolbert asked the victim if she could hold the puppy. The victim handed the puppy to Tolbert, who then allegedly fled in her vehicle.

 

Officers met with the original victim and then were contacted by a second victim. 

 

The second victim claimed that the same woman had met them in the same parking lot an hour before Tolbert stole the first puppy. Like the first victim, Tolbert and the second victim agreed on the dog’s price before the sale.

 

When the second victim showed Tolbert the dog, Tolbert grabbed the animal and attempted to flee. However, the victim was able to get the dog back from Tolbert.

Tolbert has been charged with robbery by sudden snatching and criminal attempt robbery.

 

In a press release, the Gwinnett County Police Department warned citizens to be careful when conducting online sales. The agency suggested meeting in a public space during these transactions and said buyers or sellers should always know who the other person is.
