There are just 29 days remaining until the kickoff of the 2022 high school football season. But make no mistake, preparations for the upcoming campaign got underway months ago. And teams throughout northeast Georgia already are in full countdown mode.

With that in mind, we spent the last couple of weeks catching up with programs around our area to get a feel for how spring practice went, how the summer is going, and what coaches believe the fall will look like. Our "Two-a-Days" series honors those old-school grinding sessions that lead us out of summer and into fall, asking each area coach two key questions about the state of their respective programs.

Over the next two weeks, AccessWDUN's Friday Game Night will get you prepped for the start of gridiron action with responses from coaches throughout northeast Georgia. (Teams run in alphabetical order)...

EAST FORSYTH

The Broncos had a fairly successful inaugural campaign snagging a couple of wins. Now, they will be jumping up in classification and playing a full region schedule in just their second season.

We caught up with coach Brian Allison to ask what the mood has been like off Jot Em Down Road for his young squad as they motor toward their first season playing a region schedule.

QUESTION: Coach, Year 1 went pretty well as y'all were able to grab a couple of wins. What has the mood been like around the practice fields during the spring and summer as y'all get ready to jump into region play for the first time?

A: "The coaches and players are excited to start the second year of the program, which gives them a little bit more motivation going into the summer knowing that we are in a region and playing a region schedule. We're ready to jump in and then play that first region game."

Q: Y'all return nine on defense but also will play a much more difficult schedule in 2022. How well is that group coming along as you get closer to the season opener?

A: "I think our guys are coming along really well. We do have a lot returning on both sides of the ball, and it seems like we can work toward more football-related stuff instead of just teaching alignments and stances. We're excited about getting ready for the season opener."
