Arson has not been ruled out in a pair of early-morning structure fires Friday in Banks County.

A vacant home and a barn in Banks County were destroyed by fire early Friday, and investigators are questioning three individuals about possible involvement.

The fire fire destroyed a home just off U.S. 441 / Ga. 15..

Banks County Fire and Emergency Services responded to 648 Moss Mill Road, just off U.S. 441 in Baldwin at 12:13 a.m. on a reported structure fire.

Upon arrival units found the single-family home was fully involved with fire, said Fire Chief Steve Nichols. A defensive mode of operations was established, and the fire was contained to the building of origin.

The structure was a total loss, Nichols said.

No Injuries were reported.

The Banks County Fire Department Arson investigation Unit along with the Georgia State Fire Marshal’s Office, is investigating the incident. Units returned to service from that call about 3:30 a.m., but an hour later were paged to a structure fire in the 300 block of Spring Road, Baldwin.

Nichols said arriving units found a pole barn full of round bales of hay that was fully involved with fire.

No injuries were reported and the cause of that fire is under investigation by the Banks County Fire Department and the Georgia State Fire Marshal’s Office.

Arson has not been ruled out as the cause of the fire and three people, two males and one female, have been detained at the Banks County Jail for questioning concerning the fires. The incident is still ongoing as fire personnel are still on scene Friday afternoon.
