COAL MOUNTAIN, Ga. — North Forsyth hosted a 10-team padded camp on Thursday to finish Phase 1 of summer workouts.
It was the culmination of the first 30 days of work before the second Georgia High School Association "dead period," which begins next week.
Dead week is a mandatory summer pause for all sports.

"It's unique how you can take all these different players and coaches from different programs from around the state and bring them together and be quickly organized and get good quality work done," North Forsyth coach Robert Craft said.
Brookwood, Dacula, Dawson County, Lambert, Milton, North Forsyth, Sequoyah and West Forsyth were part of the camp. Each team played 10 minutes on defense and 10 minutes of offense against each other.
Dawson County coach Sid Maxwell said it was a good way to see his program's progress since the beginning of the summer.
"We've had a great summer so far," Maxwell said. "This gets us ready for the dead week. It's a good way to finish Phase 1 of our program and see where we are as a team."
