The Hall County Commission on Wednesday voted to approve a special use for a dog day-care venue near Clermont.

Bark Camp Farm will be built on a 30-acre property on Hunter Road near the intersection of U.S. 129 and Jim Hood Road.

Applicant Megan Patrick said the business will run a shuttle service that will pick up dogs from residents and drop them back off at the end of the day. Patrick said they also plan to host events for dog owners.

Patrick said she came up with the idea after they got a Goldendoodle and realized it needed a place to run.

"A person's yard can only do so much for a dog that needs to run like that," Patrick said. "Really, there's nowhere in our area that has a large, wide-open space, for dogs to run and play with other dogs. That's what we're hoping to bring to our community with Bark Camp."

No one spoke in opposition to the matter during the Hall County Commission meeting.
