Gregg Poole wins District 3 Hall County Board of Commissioners seat

Gregg Poole has won the Republican primary runoff for the Hall County Board of Commissioners District 3 seat.

Poole won 59.81 percent of the vote with 1,375 votes. His opponent David W. Gibbs lost with 40.17 percent of the vote.

Poole is an ordained Baptist minister, works for an electrical contracting company and is a lifelong Hall County resident.

He predicted inflation will continue to be a major issue for the county.

“I think one of the biggest issues that’s going to be facing everybody in the foreseeable future would be budget issues, things of that nature,” Poole said.

One of his major goals is to build a grocery store in Lula. He spoke on WDUN’s The Martha Zoller Show on March 8 and said many elderly women in his Bible study group have to drive to Rabbittown to get groceries. Poole said that this travel for groceries affects traffic in Gainesville.

“The congestion in Gainesville is horrendous because I go there every day, that’s where my office is,” Poole said on WDUN’s The Martha Zoller Show. “So one of the things that would alleviate a lot of traffic, if we had some of the basic necessities we need in our end of the county.”

He said more growth will come from Ga. 365 and the county needs to anticipate it. He suggested enacting covenants to limit the growth.

Poole returned to The Martha Zoller Show on April 11 and said he wants North Hall and East Hall to have a greater voice.

“I believe when you're in construction, you either have to be a strong voice or you'll get rolled over,” Poole said. “And we've worked with billion-dollar companies, we now know how to be a strong voice and be a small company and a small person. I actually believe that we need to make our community aware [that] a lot of people in East Hall County were neglected. One of the reasons we're neglected is because nobody wants to be that voice.”

Poole said that he will learn on the job and consult former and current commissioners. He thanked his family, church and his opponent Gibbs.

Poole will not face Democratic opposition in November.
Gregg Poole won the District 3 seat on the Hall County Board of Commissioners, beating opponent David Gibbs with 59.81 percent of the vote.
