Moore joining Clarkesville as Main Street manager

Posted 6:00PM on Sunday 19th June 2022 ( 1 year ago )

Colby Moore is bringing his marketing and communications skills to Clarkesville as the city’s new Main Street director.

“My first goal will be to just learn,” Moore said. “I want to really learn from the council and the mayor and the city manager and the existing business owners. My first priority is going to be reaching out to the existing business owners and see what they need and how I can help and help support their needs and their passions in the city. I think that'll take a while to get to learn all that.”

For more the past several years, Moore has served as marketing and communications manager for the Georgia Department of Natural Resources – Parks, Recreation, and Historic Sites Division.

“I do know that just because of my background, I'd like to improve social media, the website, the newsletter, communication as a whole,” Moore said. “I want to improve that communication both outward and inward.”

Moore is looking forward to using his skills to enhance Clarkesville’s online and social media presence.

“I have a background in photography,” Moore said. “I was a commercial photographer for a number of years. I've owned my own business. I can do video. I taught photography and video at North Georgia Tech. And I'm looking forward to producing everything from quality photographs to little, short videos, both for social media and for the larger website audience. I really look forward to doing that here in Clarkesville.”

Moore enjoyed working for a state agency and getting to travel the state to capture the beauty of its natural, historic, and recreational resources.

“When I left the college, it was a great opportunity to go to a much bigger organization, Department of Natural Resources, and I spent five years there and I really enjoyed my time,” Moore said. “I'm very glad to be coming back home. This is a much shorter commute for me.”

Moore said he looks forward to plugging in at community events and organizations and hearing from those in the community what they value, want to preserve, and want to see change.

“I've always loved Clarkesville,” Moore said. “When I was here at North Georgia Tech, I participated a lot the community events and the civic meetings and I'm really looking forward to getting back to that. It will be nice to take my skills and be able to narrow that focus on to downtown Clarkesville.”

Moore takes over the position formerly held by Trudy Crunkleton, who recently began work as city manager in Clayton.
