It took troopers from the Georgia State Patrol four attempts Friday night, but they finally were able to spin out a fleeing car and arrest the driver.

A trooper attempted to stop a Lexus sedan with a faulty headlight about 10 p.m., but the driver fled.

The pursuit traveled north on Old Cleveland Road, where a PIT maneuver was conducted at Nicolon Drive, said Cpl. Larry Ray of GSP Post 7 Toccoa.

The violator was able to regain control of the vehicle and traveled back south on Old Cleveland Road, then through Cornelia onto South Main Street/Willingham Avenue at Wayside Street, where three more PIT maneuvers were conducted by the two troopers involved.

No injuries were reported, and troopers arrested 34-year-old Christopher Tenakoun for aggravated assault, fleeing or attempting to elude police officers, obstructing or hindering law enforcement officers, driving under the influence, a probation violation, possession of methamphetamine, possession of less than one ounce of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance, defective tires, and failure to maintain lane.
