The Humane Society of Northeast Georgia's annual Restaurants for Rescues fundraising event will return to restaurants around North Georgia at the end of June.

The public can raise money for the humane society by dining at 26 area restaurants from June 20 to 25 during the fourth annual event.

Kevin Wells, events and donor relations manager with the humane society, said a portion of a restaurant's proceeds from a specific day of that week will be given back to the humane society.

"All we ask is that people go out and go visit those locations on their day of participation," Wells said. "They're helping to save lives just by going out and having dinner with friends, family, even drinks and takeout."

New additions for this year's event include a restaurant passport and dream vacation giveaway.

Patrons will receive a sticker to add to a bingo-style board found on the back of their restaurant passports after they make a purchase at a participating restaurant. The passports will be available at all participating restaurants. Those who collect four stickers in a row can claim a prize from the humane society.

Donations can be made directly to the humane society to enter the dream vacation giveaway. One winner will receive a trip to The Club Barbados Resort and Spa.

Funds raised during the event will help cover the expenses the humane society incurs from rescuing homeless animals and preparing them for adoption.

More information and a link to donate and enter the dream vacation giveaway can be found on the humane society's website. The list of participating restaurants is also available below.
