A woman was rescued by police in Flowery Branch after saying she was kidnapped.
On Monday, a Flowery Branch Police Officer was patrolling the area of Phil Niekro Boulevard at Atlanta Highway when he noticed a white Nissan Altima had an expired registration. When the officer pulled the car over, a woman got out of the backseat of the car and tried to communicate with officers. After getting a Russian interpreter, they were able to determine that the woman had been forced into the man’s car and he refused to let her leave.
A report released from the Flowery Branch Police Department says that the man, who was someone she previously knew, picked her up to give her a ride home. The woman reported that the driver, David Shorin, made sexual advances and propositions. At a gas station, she got out of the car and ran, but Shorin grabbed her and forced her back into the vehicle. The woman tried to get out of the car numerous times, but the man continued to lock the doors and prevent her from getting out.
Shorin has been charged with kidnapping, expired registration and operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license.
