Motorcyclist seriously injured in Gainesville wreck to donate organs

A motorcyclist who was seriously injured Tuesday in a two-vehicle accident in Gainesville will go on to be an organ donor following his passing.

A close family friend of Dylan Gooch, 31, told AccessWDUN Gooch was pronounced brain-dead on Thursday. Gooch will donate his organs to help others following the tragic accident. 

Gooch was a member of the North Georgia Wingmen Motorcycle Club. He will leave behind a wife and three children.

The family friend said the community has stepped up to support Gooch's family in the wake of the accident.

The Gainesville Police Department released on Wednesday afternoon the names of those involved in a motorcycle accident in the city on Tuesday.

Gainesville Police Lieutenant Kevin Holbrook identified the motorcyclist who was seriously injured in the accident as Dylan Gooch, 31. The driver of the box truck, James Wehunt, 64, did not suffer any injuries in the accident on McEver Road.

Holbrook was unable to release an update on Gooch's condition.

Investigators are seeking information from anyone who may have witnessed the crash. Those with information can visit this webpage.

A motorcyclist was seriously injured after they were involved in a two-vehicle accident Tuesday morning in Gainesville.

Gainesville Police Lieutenant Kevin Holbrook said emergency crews responded at about 7 a.m. to the scene on McEver Road at Browns Bridge Road.

A preliminary investigation determined the motorcycle was driving northbound on McEver Road when a box truck driving southbound made a left turn in front of the motorcycle. 

The man driving the motorcycle was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in serious condition due to injuries sustained in the accident.

Holbrook said the crash remained under investigation as of Tuesday morning. The names of those involved have not been released.
