Gainesville’s downtown dining district will become bigger effective immediately following a Tuesday evening vote from the Gainesville City Council.

The resolution to expand the dining district’s boundaries passed in the council’s consent agenda.

The downtown dining district is an area within city limits where customers are allowed to carry alcohol in an open container.

Assistant City Manager Angela Sheppard said the downtown dining district boundaries will now extend to two new restaurants in front of Solis Gainesville. The expansion will also include Poultry Park and its new Standard Service restaurant and 2 Dog Restaurant.

The boundaries start at the intersections of E E Butler, Jesse Jewell Parkway, West Academy Street and Academy Street.
