FLOWERY BRANCH — Flowery Branch slowly built a lead en route to a 6-2 win over Chestatee on Monday at Hog Mountain Park.
The win solidified the Falcons' No. 2 spot in the region with two games remaining.
As for the game, the War Eagles (12-16, 7-9 Region 8-4A) got on the board first in the third inning off a ground out from Noah Bull, scoring Christian Jarrard to go up 1-0.
The Falcons, however, pounded out two runs in the bottom of the third off a Mason Compton double and a Connor Edwards single to grab the lead for good, 2-1.
Flowery Branch (18-8, 12-4 Region 8-4A) added two runs in the fifth and two in the sixth, extending the lead, 6-1.
Chestatee added one more run in the top of the seventh.
Aaron Attaway picked up the win on the hill, allowing one run on four hits and four strikeouts through six innings of work.
The Falcons scattered 13 hits in the game with Edwards, Compton, Riley Mitchell and Jackson Freeman recorded multiple hits. Edwards led the Falcons with a 4-for-4 day at the plate to lead Falcons Varsity in hits.
Nolan Turner, Nick McCoy, Bull, Colton Wilbanks and Jarrard had one hit each for the War Eagles.

LUMPKIN COUNTY 4
With the game tied 2-2 heading to the fifth inning, the Tigers scored four straight runs to take the lead and the win over the Indians on the road Tuesday.
After the Tigers scored two runs in the first inning, Lumpkin County didn't answer until the bottom of the third with two runs to tie the game, 2-2.
In the fifth, the Tigers scored on doubles from Colton Rucker (1-for-4, 2 RBI) and Luke Mulberry (1-for-1, 1 RBI) to go ahead, 4-2. In the sixth, Dawson County added two more runs on a single from Sawyer Bearden (1-for2, 1 RBI) and Nick Mullinax (2-for-3, 1 RBI).
Lumpkin tacked on two runs in the bottom of the sixth, but Dawson County answered in the seventh with a pair of runs.
Trey Harvey earned the win, allowing four runs on six hits and six strikeouts in six innings of work.
Cooper Scott was 2-for-3 with two RBIs to lead the Indians. Will Mincey also was 2-for-3.
With the win, the Tigers (16-11, 12-7 Region 7-3A) are tied for third with East Forsyth in the standings. However, the Broncos hold the series tiebreaker. Dawson County will need to sweep Lumpkin County and hope for some help from White County to get the No. 3 seed in the Class 3A playoffs. Regardless, the Tigers are in the playoffs for the first time since 2017.

WHITE COUNTY 3
The Broncos (18-11, 12-7 Region 7-3A) jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the third inning to pace them to the win over White County (14-12, 8-11 Region 7-3A) on the road Tuesday.
The Broncos added one run in the first inning on a single from Logan Pedretti. In the third, Lucas Kniola, Pedretti and Mathew Lyons drove in a combined four runs to go ahead, 5-0.
White County came alive in the fourth inning thanks to Trevor Butler and Jake Johnson, who recorded RBIs in the inning but stalled after scoring the three runs.
Wyatt Barden surrendered three runs on four hits over three and two-thirds innings, striking out three to get the win.
Trey Farr led East Forsyth with a perfect 3-for-3 plate performance.
White County's Johnson and Dylan Sargent each managed multiple hits one the day with Johnson going 3-for-4 at the plate.
JEFFERSON 11,
EAST HALL 1
The Dragons scored runs through the first six innings to blow past East Hall on the road Tuesday.
Bowman Horn was 4-for-4 with one double and three singles and three RBIs to lead the Dragons at the plate. Matthew Perrin was 3-for-4 with one RBI.
Spencer Neese earned the win, allowing one run on four hits and eight strikeouts in five innings.

VICTORY BAPTIST 2
Caleb Moore was tough to hit as the Lightning rolled to the win over Victory Baptist on the road Tuesday.
Moore tossed 4 2/3 innings, striking out nine and giving up one run.
Barry Waymack and Raulerson led the way with two hits each. Waymack also drove in two runs. Isaac Dinn, Moore, Hohman, Gavin Strabala and Jordan Smith also garnered hits in a balanced attack.
Leading 4-1 going into the 7th inning, Victory Baptist scored a run closing to 4-2 with two runners on and no outs. Drew Kalinauskas caught a drive to left field and doubled the runner off second base. After a runner reached on an error, Strabala caught a popup to secure the victory.
