Golf: Red Elephants take 3rd in stacked Trojans Invitational in Carrolton

CARROLLTON — The Gainesville boys golf team finished third in the ultra-competitive Trojans Invitational on Saturday at Sunset Hills Country Club.

The Red Elephants fired a two-day total 596 (28-over par) to finish 12 shots behind winner Trinity Collegiate School out Darlington, S.C., which shot a 16-over 584.

North Oconee finished second at 591 after being tied with Gainesville after the opening round. A.C. Flora out of Columbia, S.C., finished fourth at 602 and Perry was fifth at 609 to round out the top five.

In the individual tournament, Andrew Gregory of Boiling Springs (S.C.) took home the title shooting a 5-under par, 137. Gainesville’s Ryan Davidson finished in the top five firing a 1-under 141 over the two days. Davidson and Red Elephants teammate Henry Kopydlowski (2-over, 144) both made the All-Tournament team.
