The owner of the Serenity Massage & Day Spa on Washington Street in downtown Gainesville was arrested Monday after her son was charged in March for allegedly touching customers inappropriately.
B.J. Williams, public information officer with the Hall County Sheriff's Office, said Michael Steven Reeves, II, 36, of Clermont, performed massages without a license prior to his arrest for sexual battery on March 10. This information led to the arrest of Donna Lorraine Reeves, 61, of Clermont, the owner of the spa, for a misdemeanor charge of unlawful massage therapy practices for allowing Michael Reeves to perform massages while unlicensed.
Williams said there was no indication that Donna Reeves knew about the alleged sexual battery incidents prior to Michael Reeves' arrest.
Donna Reeves posted bond and was no longer in jail as of Wednesday.
Michael Reeves has been charged with two additional counts of misdemeanor sexual battery and a misdemeanor count of unlawful massage therapy practices. He was booked on March 30 into the Hall County Jail on the additional sexual battery charges and posted bond. He was also arrested for unlawful massage therapy practice on Monday and later posted bond.
Wiliams said four victims have accused Michael Reeves of inappropriate touching during massage sessions.
One additional employee was arrested for performing massages while unlicensed at Serenity Massage & Day Spa. Williams said Kathryn Marie Killeen, 41, of Gainesville, was charged with unlawful massage therapy practices. Killeen's license allegedly expired in 2020.
AccessWDUN has attempted to contact the City of Gainesville's Business Tax and Licensing Division to determine whether the spa is still operating following the arrests. This story will be updated as more information is released.
