Georgia gas prices are continuing to drop, but they're still more than a dollar higher than they were in April of 2021.
According to the latest report from AAA, the average price of a gallon of unleaded in the state is $3.86, down 42 cents from its high reached in early March. However, average prices a year ago were just $2.71.
The report also says more good news at the pump could be on the way as demand for gas continues to decline while stocks improve. AAA also said the recent news that the U.S. will release a million barrels a day from the nation's Strategic Petroleum Reserve will likely reduce prices in the near future.
The average prices in Georgia remain below the national average of $4.18 a gallon. Locally, the highest prices are in Forsyth County where the average price is $3.93 while the cheapest are in Union County at just $3.70.
