Drugs, guns found after high speed chase in Forsyth County

A high-speed police chase in Forsyth County last Friday led to the arrest of one man who ended up having drugs and a gun in his vehicle.

Last Friday, just after 2 a.m., a deputy patrolling GA400 southbound near exit 13 attempted to pull a vehicle over after a tag check found the vehicle had no valid insurance. That deputy also said there was a strong smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

The driver refused to stop and fled on GA400 southbound going over 120mph. Additional deputies were called to assist. They deployed stop sticks, which caused all four tires to go flat.

The driver, Demetris Clay, 37 of Atlanta, attempted to flee on foot but was pulled off a concrete center median and arrested.

In the car, deputies found drugs, including cocaine, heroine and methamphetamine. Authorities also seized two guns in his possession. A thorough search also found that Clay had fake ID’s and credit cards, as well.
