The East Hall boys basketball program is searching for a new head coach yet again.

After two seasons at Valhalla, Tommy Yancey has resigned as head coach. Now, the Vikings will be searching for a new head coach for the fourth time in five years.

"We wish coach Yancey the best and appreciate his hard work and dedication to East Hall and helping us bring the Lanierland title back to Valhalla," athletic director Adam Rich said.

After a 6-19 record in Year 1, Yancey saw success in his second season at East Hall, leading the Vikings to their first Lanierland title in 11 seasons with a thrilling win over rival Gainesville last December and a 16-9 overall record. But injuries began to pile up for the Vikings after Christmas that eventually squashed a potential state tournament run.

Rich said the school is wrapping up interviews this week.

"We have some solid candidates that we are excited about," he said.
