For the first time in a year, Georgia’s average gas price has dropped. Prices at the pump dropped 17 cents compared to a week ago. In the weekly AAA report released this morning, the average price statewide is now $4.12 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline.
Georgia hit a record high for gas prices on Mar. 11 at $4.33 per gallon.
“Georgians are starting to see some relief at the pumps compared to a week ago,” said Montrae Waiters, AAA-The Auto Club Group spokeswoman. “The drop in gas demand and the decrease in crude oil prices has contributed to lower pump prices.”
The price of oil has moved lower due to market concerns that crude oil demand will decline. Additionally, the Energy Information Administration (EIA) reported that total domestic crude stocks increased by 4.3 million barrels last week to 415.9 million barrels. The recent growth in total domestic crude inventories also contributes to the current reduction in crude prices.
In North Georgia, White County has the lowest gas prices at an average of $3.94. That is some of the least expensive gas in the state.
The most expensive gasoline in our area can be found in Lumpkin County at $4.25 per gallon and Banks County at $4.28.
