A man from Cumming was killed in a Friday morning accident on Peachtree Parkway in Forsyth County.

According to a press release from the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office, the incident happened at about 7:00 a.m. on Peachtree Parkway near Granite Lane.

An initial investigation determined a Toyota Prius was traveling southbound on Peachtree Parkway when it made a sudden left turn onto the concrete median. Several people stopped to help the crashed vehicle.

Two people attempted to open the driver's door when they were struck by a 2006 Dodge Durango traveling northbound on Peachtree Parkway.

"The Prius partially obstructed the view of the lane and the Durango driver did not see the pedestrians," the release said.

One pedestrian was taken to Northside Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The second pedestrian, John Waldon, 48, of Cumming, was taken to Emory Hospital in John's Creek where he was pronounced dead.

The accident remains under investigation by the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office Traffic Specialist Unit.
