ATLANTA — Eddie Rosario signed a two-year contract with the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday.

The outfielder agreed to the deal worth $18 million guaranteed, with a club option for the 2024 season. There is no buyout included in the deal. Rosario will make $9 million in 2022 and 2023 and has agreed to donate 1% to the Atlanta Braves Foundation.

Rosario, who was acquired by Atlanta from Cleveland on July 30 last season, played 33 regular-season games for the Braves in 2021, hitting .271 (26-for-96) with 13 extra-base hits (seven home runs). In 111 MLB games between Cleveland and Atlanta last season, the left-handed hitter posted a .259 batting average (98-for-379) with 14 home runs, 62 RBI and 42 runs scored.

The 30-year-old appeared in each of Atlanta’s 16 postseason games (15 starts) in 2021 and was named NLCS MVP for his performance against Los Angeles. In those six games, he hit .560/.607/1.040 (14-for-25) with three home runs, nine RBI and six runs scored. In the 2021 playoffs, he hit .383/.456/.617 (23-for-60) with seven extra-base hits. He also strung together an 11-game postseason hit streak in 2021, which tied for the third-longest playoff streak in franchise history.

Rosario, a native of Guayama, Puerto Rico, has spent time with Minnesota, Cleveland and Atlanta throughout his seven-year, major-league career. He finished sixth in American League Rookie of the Year voting in 2015 with the Twins after recording 36 extra-base hits across 122 games in his first season. He has also appeared in American League MVP voting twice: 18th in 2019 and 17th in 2020. Rosario finished the 2019 campaign with 32 home runs and 109 RBI, both career highs.

The 6-foot-1, 189-pounder was drafted by Minnesota in the fourth round of the 2010 MLB First-Year Player Draft and made his debut for the Twins in 2015, when he led the majors in triples.

Atlanta’s 40-man roster is now full.
