Boys soccer: No. 1 Johnson knocks off Loganville

LOGANVILLE, Ga. — No. 1 Johnson boys soccer team rolled past Loganville, 3-1, on the road Tuesday. 

The Knights (13-0, 4-0 Region 8-5A) attacked fast to open the game. Ramon Aguilar broke away to play a beautiful through ball to Jorge Sandoval, who beat the defenders, to open the scoring within the first three minutes of the game.

Later on, the second ball for the Knights came from a shot outside the box from Angel Sagrero.  Johnson's next goal came on an assist from Sandoval who found Ramon Aguilar far post to punch it in for a 3-0 advantage. 

Loganville scored its lone goal late in the match. 

Johnson continues region play Friday when they travel to Eastside.


NORTH OCONEE 3, 
EAST HALL 2

The 10th-ranked Titans (5-6-1, 2-1 Region 8-4A) scored a late goal with four minutes remaining to knock off the Vikings (5-7-1, 1-2 Region 8-4A)on Tuesday in Bogart.

North Oconee opened the game on a corner kick goal early in the first half, but the Vikings rallied back in the 22nd minute on a Ranferi Lara-Chavez score to tie the game, 1-1.

The Titans, however, found the back of the net before the half to go up 2-1.

The region bout remained 2-1 until the final minutes when Miguel Dominguez tied the game with four minutes to go, but North Oconee scored the game-winning goal with two minutes left.

The Vikings will play host to Chestatee on Friday.
