Two Gainesville residents have been arrested for stealing guns and jewelry for a city pawn shop, Gainesville police said Friday.
Rodney Harrison, 30, and Shuntaria Davis, 28, were taken into custody after police executed a search warrant in the 1300 block of Otila Drive. Investigators recovered nearly all of the stolen items.
Police believe the pair burglarized the Double Deuce Pawn Shop at 565 Shallowford Road in the overnight hours of March 8. They stole nearly $20,000 in guns and jewelry from the business. A total of 20 guns were taken.
Harrison has being charged with felony burglary, felony smash and grab burglary, 19 counts of felony possession of a firearm by convicted felon and felony possession of cocaine. Davis is being charged with 15 counts of felony theft by receiving, felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, felony possession of cocaine, misdemeanor theft by receiving. They are both being held in the Hall County Jail.
“We will not tolerate this type of crime or criminal behavior within our city, we will take swift action and use every available resource to bring criminals of this nature to justice” Police Chief Jay Parrish said.
The Gainesville Police Department worked with the ATF and Hall County Sheriff’s Office on the case.
