The weather forecast for the entire week is a wet one, but that may not stop nearly half of the nine regions that house Northeast Georgia-area teams from beginning their journeys to the state playoffs.

Regions 6-7A, 8-4A, 7-3A, and 8-2A all are set to get under way this week, with some huge series right out of the gate on either Monday or Tuesday, weather permitting, of course.

Gainesville may have the toughest week in region play, opening a two-game series in Region 6-7A at Ivey-Watson on Monday against Class 7A No. 1-ranked Lambert. The Red Elephants then begin a two-game series with No. 9 North Forsyth in Coal Mountain on Friday.

Region 8-4A will start Tuesday with single games and then switch venues with doubleheaders on Friday. No. 7 Flowery Branch opens at home against Cedar Shoals while Jefferson travels to Madison County on Tuesday.

Region 7-3A, where all eight teams have winning records, has four important series starting on Monday to get things going. The teams will go Monday-Wednesday-Friday.

No. 1 North Hall opens on the road at Gilmer, No. 5 Cherokee Bluff begins a series at East Forsyth, West Hall opens at home against Dawson County, and White County opens a series at Lumpkin County.

Region 8-2A mirrors 8-4A with single games Tuesday and doubleheaders on Friday. Banks County travels to Rabun County and Riverside Military Academy heads to No. 8 Elbert County.

In Region 8-6A, which began last week, No. 1 Buford opens a huge series with Lanier at Gerald McQuaig Field on Monday as the only two unbeaten teams left in the region. Habersham Central opens a series against Central Gwinnett on the road.
