DANIELSVILLE — Cherokee Bluff got a RBI single from Caleb Piland driving in the go-ahead run in the top of the seventh to beat Madison County 3-2 on Friday on the road.
The Bears led 2-0 early with single runs in the first and second inning but the Red Raiders scored runs in the third and fifth to tie the game.
Ben Crumpton started for Bluff (7-2) and went 4 1/3 innings allowing just two runs on two hits and two walks while fanning three. Lucas Tritt got the win in relief going the final 2 2/3 scattering a pair of hits while striking out three.
Bluff managed eight hits against four Madison County pitchers with Caleb Piland leading the way with two hits and 2 RBI for the game.
Ty Corbin, Jacob Vokal, Ben England, Brett House, Brody Beal, and Landon Kemp all collecting one hit each on the day.
WALNUT GROVE 6,
JEFFERSON 4
Despite giving up just three hits, Jefferson dropped a decision to Walnut Grove on Friday at home.
The Dragons (5-5) were undone by four errors, including one that led to three runs in a four-run third inning that was the difference. Two walks, a hit batter, and the big error gave the Warriors a 4-1 lead.
Walnut Grove added a run in the fourth and Jefferson pulled within 5-2 in the fifth. The Dragons plated two runs in the seventh on a balk and an error and had the winning run at the plate but could not get them across.
Eston Simpson took the tough loss yielding just two hits, walking three, and striking out three in five innings. He allowed just three earned runs.
Bowman Horn, Jase Peoples, Aiden Dumas, Roger Hulsey, Brett Kelley, and JoJo Martin all had one hit for Jefferson.
Tyler James got the win for Walnut Grove going 6 1/3 innings scattering five hits and striking seven.
