Two fires that happened on Feb. 25 in Rabun Gap have been ruled acts of arson by the Georgia Office of Commissioner of Insurance and Safety Fire.
The fires were reportedly set at about 2:45 p.m. at a home on Wolffork Church Road.
A press release from the state agency said the first fire heavily damaged the carport and the left side of the home. A second fire destroyed a workshop on the property.
“Our office is assisting the Rabun County Fire Department in this investigation,” Commissioner John F. King said. “We are asking for the help of the community in bringing the perpetrator(s) to justice. Anyone with information about this Rabun County fire is invited to call my Fire Investigations Unit at 1-800-282-5804.”
A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered by Georgia Arson Control for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the arson.
