GREENWOOD, S.C. — The 11th ranked University of North Georgia women's basketball team won a defensive struggle at No. 6 Lander Saturday, 49-40, to complete the season sweep of the Bearcats.

North Georgia never trailed in the contest, jumping out to a 6-0 lead and not looking back. Lander would cut the lead to two by the end of the first, but UNG stretched the lead back out to seven by halftime.

The Nighthawks continued to extend the lead in the third quarter to as many as 13, but the Bearcats made a 7-0 run that cut the UNG lead back to six before LU trimmed it down to as few as two again at the end of the third. North Georgia ran away late, hitting free throws and limiting turnovers to secure the win.
