Two men are in custody after stealing a car in Forsyth County and leading deputies on a brief chase.

On Tuesday, two men stole a car from a car dealership after asking to test drive a Dodge Charger.  Just before 5 p.m., the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office says they got a 9-1-1 call from Don Jackson North located on GA 400 at the Hubbard Town Rd. intersection. When a salesperson went to get into the car for the test drive, the suspect drove off. The second vehicle they arrived in, a red Camaro, also fled the scene.

Deputies were in the area and saw the Camaro just a few miles away at Martin Rd. They discovered the Camaro is also a stolen vehicle out of DeKalb County. When the Camaro stopped, a deputy was able to arrest the driver.

The Charger stolen from the dealership continued on until it crashed on Martin Rd. The driver got out and fled on foot. An off-duty sergeant who was about to go on shift was washing his work vehicle at the Auto Crazy Car Wash nearby when he heard the details over the radio. He saw the suspect running nearby and was able to take him into custody.

The driver of the stolen Charger has been named as Quantavy Terrell, 29 of Decatur. He is charged with theft by taking, theft by receiving a stolen vehicle, failure to maintain lane, and reckless driving. He is being held without bond.

Jaequon Cheeks, 24 of Atlanta, is named as the other driver in the red Camaro. He was arrested and charged with theft by taking, theft by receiving a stolen vehicle, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He is being held on a $44,390 bond.

The release from the Sheriff’s Office says they were proud of the team for catching both men so quickly. “Both suspects were in custody in just 23 minutes. Stealing a car at 4 PM on a Tuesday afternoon in Forsyth... really?”
