AAA is helping impaired drivers stay off the roads during end-of-year celebrations with the activation of its Tow to Go service.

The Tow to Go service is free for members and nonmembers of AAA and will be running until Monday at 6 a.m.

The service is a confidential local ride for one person and their vehicle to a safe location that is within a ten-mile radius of where they are picked up.

“Be sure to plan for a safe ride home before the celebrations begin,” AAA spokeswoman, Montrae Waiters, said. “Alcohol, drugs and even prescription medications can affect your ability to drive and cause unnecessary risks for everyone on the roadway. If you are tempted to drive impaired, call AAA instead and we will transport you and your vehicle to a safe location.”

Since its implementation 25 years ago, the organization said the Tow and Go service has helped AAA keep over 25,000 impaired drivers off the road.

AAA reminds readers that the service will not be accepting appointments to be picked up in advance. In a press release, the organization highlighted that the service is designed to be a last resort for drivers who can’t safely drive themselves home.

Call the Tow to Go service at (855) 286-9246.
