Cleveland Police Chief Jeff Shoemaker on Monday announced the arrest of a second person in a Dec. 4 physical assault with weapons on Bryant Street.
Shoemaker said Aca Daniel Iacono of Marietta is charged with kidnapping, false imprisonment, aggravated assault, battery, and criminal damage to property.
Iacono was arrested without incident Dec. 20 at a home on Judy’s Drive in Cleveland by White County Sheriff’s Office personnel and is being held without bond.
When officers responded to a 9-1-1 call regarding a physical assault with weapons at 223 Bryant St., in Cleveland at 1:15 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, they stopped a pickup truck that was trying to leave the apartment complex and matched a description provided by witnesses, Shoemaker said.
The driver of the truck, 35-year-old Jeread David Grizzle of Cleveland, was detained.
In the bed of the truck was a man who had suffered significant injuries. That individual later was taken by ambulance for treatment.
Grizzle was charged with kidnapping, false imprisonment, aggravated assault, battery, criminal damage to property, and driving under the influence.
Investigating officers later determined an additional suspect, now identified as Iacono, was involved in the assault and had fled prior to officers’ arrival.
“The assault was the result of an ongoing dispute between known parties and was not a random act of violence,” Shoemaker said.
Grizzle also remains jailed in White County without bond.
The case remains under investigation by Cleveland Police Department and the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office.
Anyone with information regarding the Dec. 4 incident is asked to contact Lt. Sims at (706) 865-2111.
