A crash early Wednesday morning on Tanners Mill Road led to the death of one passenger.
Troopers from the Georgia State Patrol responded to the scene around 2:30 a.m. According to GSP, Jose Luis Estala, 67 of Gainesville, was traveling south on Tanners Mill Road and attempted to make a right-hand turn.
Estala was driving too fast for wet road conditions and his 2007 Dodge Caravan traveled off the roadway and struck an embankment head-on.
Silvia Franco Mireles, 69 of Braselton, was a passenger in the rear of the vehicle. Mireles was ejected and suffered fatal injuries.
The car rotated counterclockwise after striking the embankment and came to a final rest on the east shoulder of the road.
Charges are pending in the crash, and the driver’s condition has not been released.
