Gas prices continued to decline in Georgia over the past week.
The latest numbers from AAA now show the statewide average for a gallon of regular at $3.03. That's down seven cents from $3.10 a week ago and down 14 cents from $3.17 a month ago.
Prices are tending down locally as well, with the average price in the Gainesville metro area down to $2.92, down nine cents from last week and 11 cents lower than the state average.
Georgia also continues to see gas prices lower than the national average. As of Monday's report, the national average price was $3.54, 51 cents higher than the Georgia average.
Although, AAA Spokeswoman Montrae Waiters said the national average is going down as well.
“Georgia pump prices are drifting lower as crude oil continues to decline,” Waiters said. “The main reason for the fall is the decline in oil prices. Crude is the single largest factor influencing gas prices, accounting for more than half of what drivers pay at the pump.”
