An Auburn man was killed Tuesday evening after he was struck by a vehicle in Forsyth County.

According to a press release from the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office, Salvador Ramirez, 76, was killed in the incident at about 6:40 p.m. at 6985 Matt Highway.

Ramirez and his son had reportedly just made a delivery to the address on Matt Road when he stepped into the roadway to help guide the box truck out using a small work light.

Ramirez was dressed in dark clothing and was reportedly not visible to drivers. A Ford Ranger driving eastbound on Matt Highway was unable to see Ramirez in the roadway and ran into him.

Ramirez was pronounced dead at the scene. The truck driver remained at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation. However, the agency said no charges were expected.
