BUFORD, Ga. — Buford scored when they wanted to en route to a 63-6 win over Peachtree Ridge at Tom Riden Stadium Saturday in the first round of the Class 7A playoffs.
The Wolves (11-0, Region 8-7A No. 1) have now won 24 straight first round playoff games across seven different classifications. It also was the Wolves first Class 7A playoff win since joining the state’s largest classification this season.
Buford will get the winner of the South Forsyth/Walton game currently underway on Friday at home.
Justice Haynes led the Wolves' ground game, which racked up 388 yards, rushing for 145 yards on 8 carries and two touchdowns, including an 80-yard kickoff return for a touchdown with 2:51 to go in the half.
Devin Williams’ Pick 6 in the second quarter added to the big first half, taking it back 55 yards for the score. It was part of a vicious Buford defense that held the Lions under 100 total yards and just two field goals.
Peachtree Ridge (6-5, Region 7-7A No. 4) scored on a pair of field goals in the first half.
Buford quarterback Dylan Wittke was 7-of-8 for 115 yards and a touchdown. He also recorded a rushing TD in the first half.
The Wolves finished the day with 503 total yards.
