Raids in Hart, Franklin counties lead to numerous gang arrests

Hart County Sheriff Mike Cleveland said six simultaneous search warrants executed Thursday in Hart and Franklin counties led to 11 arrests, including two for conspiracy to commit murder.

Cleveland said the search warrants were the culmination of an ongoing drug, gang, and violent activity investigation.

“Right now, we can't say a whole lot,” Cleveland said Friday. “I would like to thank all the agents say we're multiple agencies federal state the GBI did a fantastic job with this they've been working on it for several months.”

Those arrested include:

“We're just happy that everything went well,” Cleveland said. “Nobody got hurt on either side and that's always a plus. This roundup needed doing some time back. The most serious was the two this charged with conspiracy to commit murder.”

In addition to the Hart County Sheriff’s Office, the following agencies participated: Anderson County Sheriff’s Office, Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Georgia Department of Corrections, Georgia Department of Community Supervision, Georgia State Patrol, Georgia State Patrol SWAT, Hartwell Police Department, Lavonia Police Department, North Georgia Multi Offenders Task Force, and Northern Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office.

Deputies in Hart and Franklin counties, along with officers from a dozen other federal, state and local agencies, arrested 11 people Thursday on gang-related charges.
