A driver was injured after his vehicle was struck by a City of Gainesville school bus Wednesday afternoon on Thompson Bridge Road.

The bus driver and five children on board the bus were not injured but the Subaru Outback driver, James Sargent, 71, was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, Sargent was turning left out of a private driveway while the school bus was traveling northbound in the left lane. Sargent failed to yield to the school bus while he crossed the roadway.

The school bus struck the drivers side of Sargent's Subaru Outback.

The accident resulted in significant delays in the northbound lanes of Thompson Bridge Road.
