A Buford man was arrested Wednesday by the Hall County Sheriff’s Office and Georgia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force during a child pornography investigation.
Agents executed a search warrant at the home of Anthony J. Mayer, 59, in the 3000 block of Windgate Drive. Mayer was taken into custody without incident, according to a press release from the sheriff’s office.
Several electronic devices were seized from his house. Mayer is charged with one felony count of sexual exploitation of a minor.
The investigation began earlier this year when agents received a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. According to the initial investigation, Mayer possessed an image of child pornography and allegedly uploaded it to a search engine on May 28, 2022.
Mayer has been booked into the Hall County Jail on Wednesday, where he remained as of Thursday afternoon with no bond.
The case remains under investigation by the HCSO and the Georgia ICAC Task Force. Additional charges are possible pending the outcome of forensic processing of the electronics seized from Mayer’s residence.
