DACULA — Buford completed its first-ever undefeated season on Thursday after taking a 12-1 win over Dacula to close out the 2022 regular and Region 8-7A schedule on the road.
The Lady Wolves (24-0, 15-0 Region 8-7A) next will play host to one of the Super Regional brackets beginning next Thursday. The No. 1-seeded Lady Wolves will take on Region 7 fourth-seed Norcross at noon at the Buford Softball Complex.
Against Dacula, freshman Caroline Stanton improved to 7-0 scattering three hits and giving up just one run with 10 strikeouts in the circle.
Senior Olivia Duncan belted her fifth home run of the season and finished with 4 RBI to pace the offense. Junior Abby McKinnis had two hits, including a home run, and knocked in three runs. Senior Emma Castorri had three hits and two RBI and junior Adriana Martinez had two hits for Buford.
The Wolves close out their 2022 regular season with an on-the-road 5-inning run rule victory over cross-county Region rival Dacula. Buford went 15-0 in Region 8-7A, their 1st season in the state's highest classification.
Buford opened the game with a run in the first and extended the lead to 6-0 in the third. After both teams plated a run in the fourth, the Lady Wolves blew it open with five more runs in the fifth, including Duncan's three-run blast.
