Christopher Bell needed a win to make the cut to the Round of 8 in the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs on Sunday at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

He was able to do it, but that was far from the biggest story of the race - or the week.

Our Hard Left Turn crew digs into a dense amount of post-race information this week, including:

-Using fresher tires, Bell charged late as dominant driver Chase Elliott was shoved out of the way by others to score the win at Charlotte, mixing up standings and the Playoff picture.

-Cole Custer and Stewart-Haas Racing were slapped with major sanctions for allegedly slowing down to allow teammate Chase Briscoe to pass and make the Playoffs, denying defending champ Kyle Larson the transfer spot.  That came on the heels of teammate Kevin Harvick and his crew cheif, Rodney Childers being hit with hard sanctions the previous week.

-Late last week, a group of team owners, including Hendrick Motorsports and 23XI, spoke out to the media about the economical state of the sport.

Plus we'll preview this weekend's action at Las Vegas.
