Gwinnett County Police identify suspect accused of shooting woman near construction site

The Gwinnett County Police Department has identified a suspect who is accused of shooting Breana Rogers Friday evening in Stone Mountain.

Detectives have obtained warrants for suspect Edward Smith. Smith is charged with aggravated assault and felony murder.

The Gwinnett County Police Department is actively investigating a shooting that resulted in the death of an unidentified female victim in Stone Mountain.

Officers responded to a person shot call near 5170 Stone Mountain Highway according to a press release from the Gwinnett County Police Department.

Upon arrival, officers found a female outside of a wrecked vehicle that appeared to have been involved in a single-vehicle accident at a construction site. The female had received multiple gunshot wounds and died at the scene.

Witnesses advised that the suspect fled the scene through the construction site.

The investigation is still ongoing.
