Northeast Georgia Health System will hold a groundbreaking in February for a new building on Northeast Georgia Medical Center's Braselton campus that will include an ambulatory surgery center.

A press release from NGHS said Medical Plaza 2 will offer access to outpatient surgery and other specialty care when it opens in spring 2023. The building will serve as a multipurpose medical office with an ambulatory surgery center.

“Our new building, Medical Plaza 2, will allow us to expand the services we offer to the community, including our new Ambulatory Surgery Center, and medical office space for physicians to practice at our Braselton campus,” said Anthony Williamson, President of NGMC Braselton and Southern Market Leader. “The Ambulatory Surgery Center will greatly enhance our ability to meet the healthcare needs of our community, providing more access for outpatient surgical services in a convenient location.”

The surgery center is planned to occupy about 25,000 square feet and will include four operating rooms and two procedure rooms. Two additional 30,000 square feet floors above will house physician offices. Williamson said the Braselton area's rapid growth makes the addition of office space a necessity.
