Solis Gainesville is not just a luxury apartment.
It is a peaceful blend of modern convenience with a connection to historical Gainesville, like the bridge that connects the development to Roosevelt Park.
"Everything from the architecture, down to the decorations [and] the interior design, we wanted to have touches of Gainesville incorporated into it," said Chris Pantelis, senior construction manager for Terwilliger Pappas, the company behind the development. "Everything from the chicken capital to this city is exploding with growth...the future meets the past."
The development covers 6.8 acres in the formerly vacant lot that, like Pantelis said, Gainesville residents called "the bridge to nowhere."
Solis Gainesville features 223 apartment units inside of three separate buildings. The first residents moved in last week.
"We have over 30 units that have moved in- people are already pre-leasing the other buildings now," said Pantelis. "It's going great, I think we're almost 20% occupied, which for just opening our doors, we're thrilled."
A spokesperson for Terwilliger Pappas confirmed the property is 16 percent occupied and over 30 percent leased.
Right now only the main building is complete. Pantelis said the other two apartment buildings will be finished by May.
In front of the main apartment building are two additional buildings with four spaces for restaurants. Pantelis said the top floors of the buildings are for full scale restaurants, while the bottom floors will likely be coffee or ice cream shops.
Pantelis said the restaurant spaces are projected to open to customers in late summer of this year.
The apartment units, which range from 600 to 1,700 square feet, are truly luxury living with granite countertops, General Electric Company appliances and bedrooms with their own adjacent bathrooms.
Pantelis said a lot of local people have been interested in renting at Solis Gainesville.
"We've got a lot of people that work at the hospital in various aspects of it. Businesses like Kubota have people coming to reside here," said Pantelis. "Brenau University has shown a great deal of interest, we have a lot of students that are wanting to move in and call this home."
While much of the development is crafted with modern day living in mind, including the outdoor saltwater pool, dog spa and even an indoor work-from-home office space, Pantelis said it was also built with the future in mind.
Specifically a future where everyone can gather again post-pandemic.
"We've got our grand courtyard where our pool is, clubhouse, tons of room to enjoy yourself," said Pantelis. "There's room for social distancing, but there's also room to come together. So we're not just focused on immediate needs, we're focused on future needs as well."
