Two killed in Rabun County house fire

Two people were killed Thursday in a Rabun County house fire, according to the state Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner's office.

The fire occurred on Western Way in Rabun Gap around 7:23 a.m. The 3,000-square-foot home was destroyed by the fire.

Six people were in the home at the time of the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The victim's bodies were turned over the Rabun County Coroner, then taken the Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab in Atlanta for autopsy. The names of the victims have not been released.

These are the fourth and fifth deaths from fires in Georgia in 2022.
